Update - New Film and More
By Garret Harkawik
ate last year I started production on a new film and, after another round of shooting last month, I’m happy to say I should be ready to premiere it next year some time. Like my last film, it will have an extensive soundtrack that will be released in tandem.
Unlike my last film, this new work is not entirely found footage - while it makes use of home movies shot by its subject, the film is mostly new material. I won’t say what it’s about yet, but here’s a fairly indicative screen grab for your enjoyment:
Like a lot of my work, it’ll be an interview-based documentary. I haven’t decided if I’ll be submitting it to festivals yet, as it’s looking like it will be 25-30 minutes long and in my experience a short that length isn’t ideal when it comes to festival programming.
So I’m not sure yet if I want to go through the process of submitting, waiting, getting rejected, etc. I also really don’t want to adjust the running time based on these concerns, so I’ll make the call once it’s complete.
In other news, two of my older films are now available to stream on Amazon Prime (We Will Forget and Dinner With Packer), and I recently completed the score to a documentary I didn’t make, and which I plan to maybe release sometime next year.
